Tim McGraw Tour - New Single!

Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I've written a blog so I wanted to get back in the swing of it again!

The Tim McGraw Live Your Voice tour kicked off in Tampa, FL on May 9th. It's great being out there with Tim again, as well as Jason Aldean and Halfway to Hazard. You can catch me on the Frito Lay/StyleSonic stage before the main show. We're playing mostly outdoor amphitheaters so it's a great summertime, beer-drinkin' party-type atmosphere.

The Grand Ole Opry

I have my Opry debut under my belt now. It was not only a dream of mine, but a family dream as well. There were so many feelings and emotions going on last night, but over all a real peace of mind. It is nice to play your music somewhere that you feel like you belong. I say that with great respect and a humble attitude. It is no doubt in my mind why the Opry has been called the “Mother Church of Country Music.” If you don’t feel the reverence in that hallowed building, you might want to check yourself.

George Jones and Jesus Blessed Our Thanksgiving Dinner

For the 12th year in row, Melissa and I headed up to Southern Illinois for Thanksgiving. We have a sidekick now that makes the trip more entertaining, and she makes the holidays more special for all of us. Just before Thanksgiving dinner I told my 21-month-old daughter Presley that we were going to say the blessing and talk to Jesus, she replied, “George Jones.” I think I need to start playing her a bigger variety of music!

The Opry, Elmo and Me

I had a good night in Birmingham on Friday. I worked a really cool venue there called the Workplay Theatre. I did an acoustic opener for Whiskey Falls. The highlight of the trip actually happened while sitting at Arby’s with my manager eating a French dip sandwich. Pete Fisher from the Grand Ole Opry called and asked me to play the Opry on Dec. 15th. This will be my first time on the Opry, and it will be extra special since it is at the Ryman during the winter months. I think I’ll head to Birmingham at least once a month and sit at that Arby’s to see what good news comes in.

Cross Dressing, A Kiss On The Cheek From Tom Hanks, and the CMAs

I’m sure there are some pictures floating around somewhere, so I thought I might as well tell you all, I’ve been dressing like a woman. It was for a good cause though. This was the second time I’ve been a part of this round at Dan McGuiness Pub in Nashville. Several of us writers get together, dress up like women and sing our songs to help raise money for The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation. I may not have been pretty myself, but Bobby Pinson is one ugly woman. I’ll try and track down a picture from that night and post it for you all to see. I’m brave aren’t I?

A magical night at the Bluebird

I was recently a part of one of the best writers rounds I’ve ever been a part of. Lori McKenna invited me, along with the Warren Brothers and Mark Erelli to join her round at the Bluebird Cafe. The show was a benefit for a great cause called MusiCares. Tim and Faith were both in the crowd along with Byron and Missi Galimore, and producer Don Was. My record label was there as well.
