Cross Dressing, A Kiss On The Cheek From Tom Hanks, and the CMAs

I’m sure there are some pictures floating around somewhere, so I thought I might as well tell you all, I’ve been dressing like a woman. It was for a good cause though. This was the second time I’ve been a part of this round at Dan McGuiness Pub in Nashville. Several of us writers get together, dress up like women and sing our songs to help raise money for The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation. I may not have been pretty myself, but Bobby Pinson is one ugly woman. I’ll try and track down a picture from that night and post it for you all to see. I’m brave aren’t I? I’m sure glad I didn’t get pulled over by the cops dressed like that.

I got to get close to home Nov. 2nd to be a part of a great night and event in St. Louis. Lori McKenna, Halfway to Hazard, and I got to have a reunion of sorts and open for Tim McGraw at the Tug McGraw Foundation Gala at Grants Farm. I was the first to take the stage that night. Just before I sang George Jones and Jesus, I told the crowd that I never get any good pictures from these events and that my wife and record label were always on me about being better about that. So, I asked Tom Hanks to come up and get his picture made with me. He played along like I thought he would and stood up as if he were surprised. Tom walked on stage and instead of coming my way, he jokingly walked straight to Darrin Smith (Dancehall Doctors), who was playing guitar with me, and snapped a picture with him. He then came over to me and for some reason, I kissed him on the cheek and once again Tom played along and kissed me back. Again, I have pictures coming soon from that night.

Nov. 7th was the CMA awards. My good friends the Warren Brothers, their wives, Robert Allen (manager), and myself rode down in a limo and walked the red carpet. I am always surprised at all the people I’ve met in this business over the years. I hadn’t walked two steps down the carpet and one of the makeup gals from Nashville Star put some makeup on my nose. We proceeded down the Red Carpet where we talked with my friend Storme Warren and several other media outlets. Luke Bryan actually interviewed us. He is a really nice guy. The Warrens were up for Song Of The Year for Martina’s “Anyway.” I thought they had a good shot. The last time I rode in a limo with a Song Of The Year nominee, he won song of the year. That was with Kim Williams two or three years back with Randy Travis’ “Three Wooden Crosses.” My streak was broken, but the Warrens will be back there again. They are writing some great stuff. Warner Brothers had an after party at “The Palm.” Everyone from Kid Rock to Randy Travis showed up there.

I don’t know how good of a blogger I am, but I know you all like to keep up with what I’m doing. I wouldn’t do this for just anybody you know? ha. With the cross dressing, kissing guys on the cheek, and powdered noses, it’s a good thing I’m secure in my masculinity.

Take care,
Lance
